Continuing with our topic of cold-pressed juicing vs. smoothies, we would like to spend some time sharing our thoughts on which ingredients are best for each process. This will be just a general overview; however, we hope that you will be able to walk away with an idea of the ingredients to use.
Cold-pressed Juicing
Because cold-pressed juicing involves a process that extracts the juice from the whole fruit and vegetable, it is easy to understand why the best produce to use are those that yield lots of juice. We also have to take into consideration the texture of the produce and the size of the produce. Here at Roots and Crops, we believe some of the best crops to juice, while using the cold-pressed juicing method, are citrus fruits and hard, crunchy vegetables. Produce that would fall into these categories are
Lemons
Oranges
Cucumbers
Carrots
Celery
Beets
Smoothies
Just to briefly recap our post from last week, in order to create smoothies, you must use a blending process that keeps the fiber and juice, from the produce, in one container. Because this process allows for the fiber stay in the drink, it is easy to understand why its best to use high fiber produce for creating smoothie. We believe some of the best crops to use for creating smoothies are bananas, berries, and dark-colored vegetables. Check out a few in our list below:
Bananas
Raspberries
Strawberries
Broccoli
Spinach
The two lists that we provided are only a few of the amazing produce that you can choose from. As always, we believe that you should continue to experiment and find out what works best for YOU! Always listen to your body, understand how it feels, and consult with your doctor before making any changes to your body.
